Florida Energy Conservation Advisors Inc Complaints, Concerns and Questions

Florida Energy Conservation Advisors, Inc is approaching the beginning of our 4th year serving the Central West Coast region of Florida. To date, Florida Energy Conservation Advisors, Inc has served the Energy Conservation needs of near 10,000 Florida residents and as a result Florida Energy Conservation Advisors Inc has encountered many unique situations, complaints, concerns, and questions from the dwellings resident(s).  The situations below are a sample of resident(s) complaints regarding Energy Conservation, the actual cost of energy along with how to affordably and properly correct energy breaches. Common Florida Energy Conservation Advisors Inc Complaints, Concerns and Questions.

  • Complaints, Concerns and Questions: I/we hate/dislike my/our utility bill.  Why does my/our Utility bill seem to keep going up?
  • Answer: One reason is, historically Florida Energy rates have gone up approximately 7%+ per year. Should history repeat itself and often it does, they may continue to rise at the same percentage rate or possibly at a higher percentage of rate increase.

  • Complaints, Concerns and Questions: My/our HVAC seems to never shut off, why and how can I (we) reduce it from running as much?
  • Answer: Identify the reason why.  Examples may be you have Energy loss breaches such as inadequate insulation, leaks in the openings, faulty ducts, etc. Our Advisors are trained to search and identify breaches, although they are not perfect, they are trained well and should be able to give you sound advice and guidance.

  • Complaints, Concerns and Questions: I/we had an Energy Conservation Evaluation not too long ago; however, they were trying to sell us expensive upgrades (Solar hot water heater, Solar panels, etc). I/We did not see the return.

  • Answer: Unfortunately this is a tough complaint, concern and question to answer without being sided.  This is a valid complaint and concern and in our opinion solar alternatives are wonderful…however, once again, in our opinion…they are not ready for the consumer in regard to expense vs. reasonable return on investment (ROI).
  • Complaints, Concerns and Questions:  I was in my attic and the insulation smells like mildew,I also had a problem with (rodents, termites, birds, insects, etc.).  Can I have the old Insulation removed?

  • Answer: The simple answer is yes.  Insulating contractors use a process called a Suck and Blow. This is a dirty and costly job and in many cases is not necessary.  The contractor uses a machine (large commercial vacuum) that literally sucks the insulation from the rafter bays.  As the machine sucks the insulation, it puts the insulation in large bags or a dumpster/container for proper disposal. If needed, Florida Energy Conservation Advisors, Inc Sucks out Insulation when necessary.
  • Complaints, Concerns and Questions: I/we try to change the air filter often, however, sometimes we forget and the filter is very dirty.  Does a dirty filter hurt the HVAC System and which type of filter should be used?
  • Answer:  First and foremost, make sure the filter is changed frequently.  The duration of change out can vary depending on factors, examples: Pets in house, doors open, lifestyle.  A good rule of thumbis every 30-60 days.  A dirty filter causes the HVAC to work harder (costing money).  It is very simple, the air-return sucks in air, If clogged the unit has to work harder…in essence, it sucks in air at a lower air flow rate.  In regard to what type of filter:  The jury is out; however basic to mid grade cost filters work great.  Many of the high cost air-filters clog faster because they already have a restricted air-flow.  In short, the HVAC sucks in air at a reduced rate from the beginning.  On the other hand, having no filter is also not good for the system.  The HVAC sucks in too much air, reducing the efficiency of the unit to remove the BTU's.
